As a result of a survey of membership, Horizon 100 decided to have gravel rides in 2023. Uptake of these rides has varied and continued scheduling will be dependent on rider interest and attendance.
These rides will be an opportunity for riders to become familiar and comfortable traveling the gravel roads around Saskatoon. A gravel or mountain bike would be needed for these rides. The rides will afford ample opportunities to take in the many unique sights and sounds of the countryside around Saskatoon and also provide many great picture taking possibilities.
The rides will begin from the WDM at 6:30 pm and will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours (depending somewhat on the remaining hours of daylight and the route chosen each week), and the first ride has been set for the second Tuesday in May (see calendar for specific dates). The rides are spaced two weeks apart, on 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. Gravel will continue through to the end of August.
Also note that, while we have initially set the gravel ride start location as the WDM parking lot, we may also consider different ride start locations as the season progresses in order to be able to explore other gravel route options. Any such possible changes of start location will of course be communicated to the membership ahead of time via Team Linkt.
